1:1 Somatic Spiritual Trauma Therapy

virtual or in-person
Lynnwood, Washington

I see you. I see your pain.

I understand the frustration of feeling stuck with the belief that something is wrong with you–like you’re unlovable, never enough, or don’t belong. I understand the exhaustion of trying everything to feel better, but feeling empty and unfulfilled no matter what you achieve. I understand the struggle of wanting connection, but not feeling safe to be your vulnerable, authentic self with people. I understand what it’s like to be confused about who you really are because you’ve spent your whole life trying to earn acceptance or love from others.

I see you. I see your heart.

I want you to know you are not broken. The pain and burdens you carry are not your fault. All parts of you, even the ones you feel ashamed of, deserve unconditional love and acceptance. You have so much to offer, and the world needs the authentic, unique, beautifully imperfect YOU.

I see you. I see your spirit.

You’re awakening and asking big questions. Who am I? What is my purpose? What is most important in life? I believe you are here because deep down, you know you are ready to heal. Trust yourself. Trust your inner knowing. The questions you’re asking will guide you on your inner path back to your Self. I am here to support and empower you on your journey.

Somatic Spiritual Trauma Therapy transforms…

Your Mind

from anxious or ruminating thoughts to being more present

from trying to control life to letting go and trusting the journey

Your Body

from being overwhelmed or disconnected to regulating and finding wisdom in your emotions

from living in fear or survival-mode to feeling safe and calm in your body

from over-thinking and “being in your head” to embodying your whole Self and living from your heart

Your Spirit

from feeling empty to feeling fully alive and living with purpose

from searching outside yourself to accessing your inner wisdom and intuition for guidance

from chasing approval to being your authentic self and cultivating relationships that nourish your soul

Our Journey

Phase 1: ROOT

We’ll ground by cultivating safety in your nervous system and within our therapeutic relationship. I will share information and tools that give you understanding, choice, and power in your healing process. The roots you grow will support you in being present with and compassionate toward difficult experiences and sensations in your body.

Phase 2: RISE

With curiosity and unconditional acceptance, we will explore your inner ecosystem and what’s keeping you stuck. You’ll reconnect with parts of yourself that were exiled or suppressed as a result of trauma, including your inner child. Through slow, gentle pacing, we will reprocess your experience so your body can safely release the trauma. Through facing the darkness, you will rise as your own wise healer and become the nurturing parent your inner child always needed.

Phase 3: BLOOM

We will integrate your new strengths, insights, and areas of post-traumatic growth in service of finding meaning in your trauma and transformation. I will support you in cultivating a fulfilling life that is aligned with your values, purpose, and authentic Self. This can include exploring daily spiritual practices that help you feel embodied and connected to your purpose.

Love Notes

An Integrative, Personalised Approach

l use holistic, evidence-based approaches that integrate body-centered practices, talk therapy, and your unique expression of spirituality. I personalize the approach based on your needs, drawing from the following modalities:

  • IFS is an evidence-based trauma therapy that views every person as having a system of inner parts led by a core Self. Trauma wounding causes parts of us to become exiled, suppressed, or overprotective. This creates inner conflicts that keep us stuck and disconnected from our true Self. IFS supports trauma healing by unburdening our wounded parts and reestablishing connection with the Self. It facilitates the process of integrating all parts of ourselves so wholeness can be restored. It also builds one’s capacity for Self-leadership, which leads to embodied qualities of confidence, calm, compassion, courage, creativity, clarity, curiosity, and connectedness.

  • Somatic Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes the mind-body connection in healing and personal growth. The body holds trauma, which is often hard to access and heal through talk-therapy alone. Somatic Therapy leverages the wisdom of our body and felt-sense to resolve emotional and psychological distress and deepen connection with our Self. It helps:

    • Regulate the nervous system and restore the body as a place of safety

    • Build self-awareness through increased awareness of bodily sensations and emotions

    • Resolve thwarted (incomplete) stress/trauma responses

    • Metabolize unprocessed emotions

    • Build supportive internal resources

    • Expand the capacity to process body (preverbal and nonverbal) memory, which is important for healing childhood, birth, and in-utero trauma that occurred before the age of 4

I draw mostly from Gestalt Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and mind-body practices like Mindfulness and Trauma-Informed Yoga in my approach to Somatic Therapy.

  • According to Trauma expert Bessel van der Kolk, Somatic Therapy and EMDR Therapy are considered the best approaches for the treatment of trauma. Somatic EMDR integrates both therapies and enhances each one’s effectiveness. When brought together, these two cutting-edge modalities help process traumatic memories and reduce emotional distress, while reconnecting with the body and restoring a sense of safety and agency. Research shows Somatic EMDR can decrease chronic pain, improve relaxation, and enhance well-being and self-esteem.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is an evidence-based trauma treatment that uses ‘bilateral stimulation’ to safely reprocess traumatic memories, reduce distress, and reformulate negative beliefs about oneself.

Somatic Therapy interventions such as tracking sensations, deepening awareness, boundary awareness, and self-regulation complement and increase the efficacy of EMDR Therapy.

  • Transpersonal Therapy goes beyond traditional therapy's focus on psychological issues to explore human potential and our capacity for transformation and spiritual growth, including through trauma and life challenges. It explores and integrates expanded states of consciousness: spiritual, transcendent aspects of the human experience that extend our awareness beyond (trans) our individual sense of embodied identity (personal). While I tailor this work to the unique spiritual beliefs of the individual, this work can include:

    • Exploring what gives you a deeper sense of meaning, purpose, or connection to something bigger than yourself

    • Working with existential questions and addressing struggles related to identity, purpose, values/morals, or spiritual crisis

    • Holistic interventions such as mindfulness, guided visualization, dream work, journaling, or use of creative expression to facilitate deeper self-understanding, healing, and personal growth

    • Processing and integrating expanded states of consciousness such as those experienced during meditation, breathwork, Spiritual Awakening, Psychedelic Experiences, Out of Body Experiences, or Near Death Experiences

  • Mindfulness is the practice of returning to and paying attention to the present moment with an attitude of openness, curiosity, acceptance, and compassion. Mindfulness-based therapy builds awareness of thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations, which is foundational to trauma healing. Research shows mindfulness can have positive impacts on mental health and wellbeing including:

    • stress reduction

    • treatment for anxiety and depression

    • increased emotional regulation and distress tolerance

    • improved concentration and mental clarity

    • lower blood pressure

    • improved sleep

  • In psychotherapy, Trauma-Informed Yoga complements talk-therapy by addressing the somatic aspects of trauma. By incorporating gentle movement, breathwork, mindfulness, and grounding techniques, it helps process and release stored trauma while fostering self-awareness and emotional regulation. Yoga offers practical tools to regulate the nervous system, work with dissociation, and manage stress. It provides a holistic pathway for healing, empowering you to rebuild a sense of safety and connection to yourself through the body.

  • Coaching helps integrate the insights, skills, and the personal growth from therapy into daily life. While therapy focuses on healing, exploring past experiences, and addressing deep emotional challenges, coaching is more forward-focused, action-oriented, and practical. Together, they can create a powerful synergy for long-lasting change and personal development. As a certified coach, the strategies I offer are based on the science of behavior-change.

Meet my Therapy Dog, Fern!

Fern is my sweet therapy-dog-in-training, and will be joining me for in-person sessions around summer 2025. She adores people and has a huge heart. She loves pets, and her coat is hypoallergenic and super soft.

Therapy dogs support positive health benefits including improved mood, decreased stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure, and improved emotional regulation through coregulation.

FAQs

  • I am currently accepting new clients with Premera, Regence, First Choice Health, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance, or Out-of-Network (OON) / Out-of-Pocket pay.

    Out-of-Network Clients:

Upon request, I will provide you with a monthly Superbill for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses.

Please contact your insurance company directly for information regarding your eligibility and reimbursement rates.

Here are some questions you can ask your insurance company:

    1. Do I have out-of-network benefits?

    2. What is my deductible?

    3. At what percentage will I be reimbursed?

If you utilize this option, please be aware that a mental health diagnosis is required and will be listed on your Superbill.

  • This is a time for us to explore if we might be a good fit working together. I’ll ask you some high-level questions like “why therapy?’ and “why now?” to better understand your goals and needs. I’ll also be interested in learning what you’re looking for in a therapist and what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past. I’ll hold space for any questions you have about me, my approach, the therapy process, or logistics. Together, we can decide if we would like to move forward with scheduling a 1-hour intake appointment.

  • While each session may look different depending on the person or the day, generally we will start with a mindful pause so you can notice what is present for you–thoughts, emotions, body sensations. After further exploring what you notice, we will collaborate to identify a focus area for session. With your consent, I will offer interventions that help us deepen into your internal process around the focus area. The last part of session will be focused on processing and integrating what came up for you during our work together. This may include sharing what insights you gained, what questions you have, or how you might bring this into everyday life. When relevant, I will offer psychoeducation, practices, or additional resources for your growth based on what we uncover together.

  • The duration of therapy is different for each person based on their circumstances and goals. Your therapeutic needs may be influenced by current stressors, past traumas, and your resources or support. The effectiveness or duration of therapy may also depend on your willingness and ability to engage in the process both in session and out of session. (6 months - a few years)

  • After we schedule our first intake session, I will email you the initial paperwork through your client portal. Please complete the paperwork at least 48 hours prior to our session. If we are meeting virtually, you will automatically be emailed a link for our session through Simple Practice. If you opt in, you will receive text and email reminders prior to our session.

  • I am only able to work with Washington residents. Washington law requires that you are in the state during your telehealth session. If you are traveling out of state (i.e. on vacation), we will unfortunately not be able to have virtual therapy sessions during that time.

it was when i stopped searching
for home within others

and lifted the foundations
of home within myself

i found there were no roots more intimate

than those between a mind and body

that have decided to be whole
